My review can also be from seeing all the hype about it on social media. I know there was a lot of negativity in this review but I also kind of liked the book which was weird. I honestly wished there was more to the story because there was so much potential in this book. The ending was okay and we got an epilogue which I appreciated. The romance is more of a bully romance, past love reunited and second chance love but it was such a toxic romance that honestly it didn’t look like the character’s were in love with each other. There are some side characters in the book but they were mostly all toxic people and not truly friends of the main characters. There really wasn’t room for character development because of the way that book went so that was sad. Arya is bratty and would practically fight with anyone. Christian was bratty but I think it was just because of the way he grew up and didn’t want to be treated like that. I have to say that I liked both characters but also despised them. This book is written from Christian and Arya’s pov. Though from the author’s writing, I did like how she wrote it from two different povs with also past and present chapters. This is one of those books that could have been written into a series because there is more to the story then the way it was written.
I felt that some scenes ended abruptly and could have been longer to make it one of those memorable scenes. I received a paperback of the book but it felt like it was an arc with mistakes needed to be fixed. Though the writing was kind of choppy and didn’t flow. I enjoyed the setting of this book taking place in New York in different areas of the city. Though this book didn’t exactly live up to the hype for the author. This was my first book from LJ Shen and I heard great things about her books. Review: This was a good read which is about two friends who turn into enemies and seek each other years later to get revenge but also love.
